FEMA is participating in the 44th Annual Building Safety Month with the International Code Council (ICC). Building Safety Month is an international campaign celebrated in May that raises awareness about critical safety issues from structural integrity to fire prevention, plumbing and mechanical systems, and energy efficiency.

This year's theme, "Mission Possible," gives all of us a great opportunity to learn more about building safety and its importance in our communities. Our goal is to help educate individuals, families, and businesses on what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures, reinforce the need for the adoption of modern, regularly updated building codes, and highlight the well-trained professionals who work year-round to ensure our safety.

This presentation will discuss the 2O211-Codes being widely adopted across Region 3. It aims to provide an understanding of the minimum requirements set forth by the I-Codes and how they relate to the National Flood Insurance Program minimum standards.

Target Audience:

  • Building Code Officials
  • Enforcement Officers
  • Floodplain Administrators
  • NFIP Coordinators/Staff
